Education is the mission
FirstHome IQ describes itself as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to close the homeownership education gap through research, education and advocacy. Nick’s Lending shares its resources as an education partner. The courses belong to FirstHome IQ, not to a mortgage application.

Choose one question to work on
Our suggestion: begin with the part of buying that feels least clear. If you are unsure how a payment fits your life, start with your budget. If loan terminology is getting in the way, write down the terms you want explained. You do not need to tackle every topic at once.
Its three course tracks cover money basics, credit and debt, and buying a first home. The platform also offers worksheets and calculation tools.

Bring the lesson back to Placer County
After a lesson, choose a home or community you are considering and make a question list: What costs are still missing? How much cash would I want left after closing? What would I need to confirm about this property? Pair the learning with our cash-to-close checklist and Placer new-home tracker.
Know where you are signing in
Courses open on FirstHome IQ’s site and require its sign-in. Its privacy policy governs that service. Do not assume a course meets a particular lender or assistance program’s education requirement; confirm the required course before relying on it.
